I did standup for years in AZ and San Francisco and had a panic attack each time right before I went on. But once I got on stage, I took a few very deep breaths and it was great!

I love that!

I’ve seen comics nearly break out in hives they were so nervous at a mic and honestly I find it endearing, especially if they acknowledge it.

So great, Pam! It's been a loooong time since I was on stage but I will never forget the first time. What I realized after many reps was that first time was really just about walking up to the mic and speaking the words I'd written. I couldn't hear the audience, I totally stepped on laughter, and I completely spaced one of my jokes half way through - but man, what a rush, as you know :) I couldn't agree more with everything you say here — and I'm a huge believer of memorizing-to-death too!

Yes!! I am going back through old videos to free up storage on my phone… stumbled on a video of one of my very first mics. Kind of cringe but also cool to see I’ve grown since then!

LOVE this perspective shift, it applies to so many things! "I wouldn’t beat myself up over “losing” a workout because a workout is not a race...It’s a practice, not a match." Some workouts are "better" than others (more satisfying, more progress, whatever), but none of them are 'lost.' Thanks for sharing!

Thanks!! I try and remember everything- the bad ideas, the drafts stuck in a folder you forgot about, the rejections- it’s ALL compost.
